Getting more out of Ousmane Dembele and Malcom should be Barcelona’s priority going into 2019-2020, but the Catalan club also have their eyes on some big names this transfer window. Attacking players like Alexander Lacazette have been loosely linked to Barca, and it seems like Antoine Griezmann is a constant in transfer rumors regarding the club.

Christian Eriksen has also been frequently linked to Barcelona in rumors this summer, even though rivals Real Madrid would seem like a better fit for the Tottenham star. Barcelona already have Lionel Messi and Philippe Coutinho in midfield, and Coutinho and Eriksen are often seen as comparable players.

Like Coutinho, Eriksen is more of a complementary piece who provides moments of brilliance, as opposed to a player who can consistently create chances on his own. He’ll drift out of some games only to come up big in certain moments, which can explain why he was on the periphery of the Champions League Final against Liverpool.

However, Eriksen is an intriguing option for Barcelona because of the rumors surrounding Coutinho. After a mediocre 2018-2019 campaign with La Blaugrana, Coutinho has been linked to a move back to the Premier League. Some have even proposed that Barcelona and Tottenham swap Eriksen and Coutinho, though it is worth noting that Coutinho is the more valuable player of the two and is one year younger.
