Marlins deliver 11-run inning and more moments from Tuesday
Marlins deliver an 11-run inning, UCLA softball wins National Championship on a walk off, benches clear after a no-hitter is broken up and more moments you missed on Tuesday.
1. Marlins score a record-setting 11 runs in the fifth inning against Brewers
The Miami Marlins are one of the worst teams in baseball, but that didn’t stop them from setting a franchise record by scoring 11-runs in the fifth inning. The fifth inning surge was part of an overall 16-0 shutout of the Brewers.

2. UCLA wins 2019 National Championship on a walk off
The Bruins were one run away from a National Championship with Kinsley Washington at the plate. Washington delivered by hitting an RBI-double that brought in Jacqui Prober who narrowly avoided being tagged at the plate. The run gave the Bruins the win and the 2019 National Championship over Oklahoma.

3. Bruce Bochy records 1,000th win
Giants manager Bruce Bochy announced he’d be retiring at the end of the 2019 season, but that didn’t stop him from reaching the 1,000-win milestone. The win came off of a 6-run 10th inning for the Giants. The accomplishment is one of many during Bochy’s tenure with the Giants that includes three World Series titles.
4. Seattle Storm knock off undefeated Minnesota Lynx
The Minnesota Lynx were 3-0 heading into their game in Seattle. Yet, the Storm came out raging and defeated the Lynx 84-77 thanks Jordin Canada’s 17 points.
4. Cabrera gets “Miggy” with it
In the fifth inning, Miguel Cabrera, who had just returned to the Tigers lineup, gave Detroit the lead and ultimately a win when he hit a go-ahead grand slam. The 36-year-old Cabrera hit the homer off a 97 mph fastball from reigning AL Cy Young winner Blake Snell and proved old guys can still go yard.
5. A bunt breaks up a combined no-hitter in the 9th
The Hartford Yard Goats had a 3-0 lead and a combined no-hitter going into the 9th inning, but it was broken up by a bunt from Trenton Thunder batter Matt Lipka. At the end of the game, benches would clear and a mild scuffle would occur between the teams. Someone must have forgotten to tell the Yard Goats that the 3-0 game was still very much in reach and that combined no-hitters are overrated. They should hire East Bound and Down’s Stevie Janowski next time to ensure no bunting.

Overtime: “Keep your stinkin’ souvenir.”
Usually, if a ball is hit to you by the opposing team, you as the home fan have a choice: keep the ball or throw it back. While this can often be a moral dilemma for some fans, it wasn’t for a Cubs fan on Tuesday who not only didn’t want a Major League baseball, he didn’t want anyone else to have it. When Rockies outfielder Raimel Tapia caught a fly ball he routinely tossed it into the stands. One cranky Cubs fan snagged it from other eager fans and immediately threw it back.
