Trent Williams demands release or trade from Redskins

Trent Williams is not happy with the handling of his medical situation in Washington. The Pro Bowl left tackle wants a release or trade.
Left tackle Trent Williams has been with the Redskins since they drafted him fourth overall in the 2010 draft. But earlier this week, he skipped the mandatory minicamp. Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports has confirmed that Williams absence is not about money, but about his frustration over how the Redskins have handled his medical situation.
In April, we learned that Williams had a benign tumor or growth removed from his head. Not a lot has been reported on the situation, but that is enough to rattle anyone. And apparently, Williams wasn’t too happy with the way that he was treated. He has two years left on his contract, but is refusing to play for the team.
Washington doesn’t have a lot of other options at the tackle position, so Williams departure could be a real problem, especially if they decide to start rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins. The Redskins have been using Ereck Flowers at left tackle in Williams place at camp, and that has not been working out too well.

This will not be the end of the Williams’ saga. Surely there will be some discussions behind closed doors, and the Redskins will look to make amends with their Pro Bowl tackle. But if Williams is serious about not playing no matter what, this could be a major problem for Washington.
