The ACC championship odds for 2019 are out, but there’s no surprise at the top spot. Clemson is once again favored to win the conference.

It’s no surprise the defending national champion is the favorite to win the ACC again next season. There’s no belief in Las Vegas that anyone has a strong chance to knock off Clemson. Then again, games aren’t played on paper in June.

In other words, everyone has a chance. Clemson absolutely has the most returning talent in the ACC, but there’s always the possibility of a national title hangover and injuries ruining what could be a championship season. If the Tigers slip, Miami, Virginia and Virginia Tech are poised to take advantage. Swinney and his team won’t be able to sleepwalk through the ACC if they expect to win another conference title, but they are the overwhelming favorite to win the ACC, according to FanDuel’s odds.

  • Clemson -600
  • Miami +850
  • Virginia +3000
  • Virginia Tech +3000
  • Florida State +3500
  • NC State +3500
  • Syracuse +3500
  • Georgia Tech +6500
  • Boston College +10000
  • North Carolina +10000
  • Pittsburgh +10000
  • Wake Forest +10000
  • Duke +15000
  • Louisville +15000

Best Bet: Virginia Tech

Justin Fuente’s Hokies limped to a 6-7 finish in 2018 but there’s reason for optimism in Blacksburg surrounding this season. Much of that optimism is centered around the ability of quarterback Ryan Willis to take a significant step forward.

Josh Johnson’s decision to leave the program leaves Willis as the unquestioned leader of the offense. Willis isn’t a dynamic runner, but he can get the ball out of his hands in a hurry via the passing game. That’s a big tenant of Fuente’s offense and could lead the Hokies to a special season.

Worst Bet: Florida State

Taking the Seminoles at +3500 is throwing your hard-earned money away. The only reason they find themselves in the middle of the pack is based on the brand name of Florida State football. Willie Taggart’s team might take a step forward in 2019, but they aren’t going to get anywhere near Clemson.

Favorite Long Shot: Wake Forest

Slowly but surely, Dave Clawson has built a really solid program in Winston-Salem. The Demon Deacons have actually won bowl games in three straight seasons. They probably don’t have enough high-end talent to contend with the Tigers, but they’re the team best positioned at the bottom of the standings to make a Cinderella run to an ACC title.

Championship Prediction: Clemson

It’s fun to think about an ACC season where Clemson doesn’t win the conference easily, but 2019 just doesn’t look like that kind of year. Betting on Swinney’s team to repeat isn’t fun or all that financially profitable, but it’s the right call nonetheless.
