Vivianne Miedema is now the Netherlands all-time leading scorer at just the age of 22, as she scored a pair of excellent goals against Cameroon.

After finishing off a wonderfully worked team move near the end of the first half to tie Manon Melis’s 59 goals in a Netherlands jersey, Vivianne Miedema scored a second goal in the 85th minute to break the record.

Miedema’s first goal came with her head, latching onto a perfect cross from Lyon right forward Shanice van de Sanden.

Her second goal was just as good, as it came off of a sharp right-footed finish that was set up by an intelligent pass from substitute Lineth Beerensteyn. Miedema found herself with acres of space on the left side of Cameroon’s defense, secured the pass, and cut inside before unleashing an emphatic finish that flew through a Cameroon defender’s legs and past the keeper.

This late goal from Miedema sealed a 3-1 victory for the Oranje, and the Netherlands are through to the group stages with six points in two games. They will face another title contender in Canada next week, but, for now, the Netherlands look like the most dangerous team in the group thanks to their attacking trio, spearheaded by Miedema.

She is one of the best strikers in the world, and there will be plenty of more goals to come for the 22-year-old sensation. Her 60 goals are the most in the history of her country, and with 26 goals in 30 career games for her club team Arsenal, Miedema is no stranger to leading teams and scoring great goals.
