Fresh off a nine-win season that saw Northwestern win its first Big Ten West title, the Wildcats are hoping to keep that momentum rolling in 2019.  Pat Fitzgerald’s club should find themselves in the top-25 to begin the season.

The success the Wildcats had in 2018 and potentially this upcoming season could have a big effect on their recruiting. A must-land recruit here for Northwestern is outside linebacker Kalel Mullings.

Mullings is one of the top outside linebacker recruits in the nation and is the top overall high school football recruit from the state of Massachusetts. Mullings is 6’1″ and 220 pounds.

The four-star product officially paid a visit to Northwestern back in May. The Wildcats are definitely on the radar here for his services. Mullings only other known visit is to Wisconsin, which is a fellow Big Ten West rival.

Landing Mullings and keeping him away from Wisconsin would be a big win for Northwestern. They have a commit already from three-star linebacker Xander Mueller, so adding Mullings would give them tremendous depth at that spot to build around going forward.

He’s a name that could certainly rise as the year goes on and plenty of others will be in the chase to land him. The Wildcats are hoping they have made enough of an impression already that they can continue to stay at the forefront of his list as the year goes on.
