The Auburn Tigers want to remain in that SEC West conversation annually. They’ve had some inconsistencies in terms of the end result, but they always find a way to factor into the chase for the most part.

Keeping pace with rival Alabama is an absolute must. Both are in the chase for outside linebacker prospect Phillip Webb.

Webb is a tall, lanky outside linebacker prospect with high upside that still needs plenty of development. Yet the tools are there that could make him an impact player at the college level if he pans out.

Auburn might have a leg up on the Crimson Tide simply in terms of roster outlook. The Crimson Tide already have two commitments at the position and could be getting another from top-ranked outside linebacker recruit Sav’ell Smalls.

The Tigers don’t have a commit at the position at the moment. This could make them more likely to land the athletically gifted Webb.

There’s also Clemson and other programs to factor as well since recruiting isn’t a two-horse race. While his other traits will take time to develop, he should show some flash from a pass rushing standpoint right away.
