The Iowa Hawkeyes have a penchant for developing tight ends. They play a pivotal role in the offense Kirk Ferentz likes to run. Therefore, it should be no surprise that their must-land recruit is Theo Johnson.

Johnson comes from north of the border, up in Windsor, Ontario.  The 6’6″ tight end is one of the most athletic recruits at his spot and every one of his measurements jumps off the page.

Johnson’s 240-pound frame can run a 40-yard dash in 4.67 seconds and he possesses a 35-inch vertical. He’s going to be a household name very quickly wherever he does ultimately end up in 2020.

He recently made an official visit to Iowa. He has offers from across the country, but the mutual interest between the Hawkeyes and Johnson is certainly strong.

It’s not a lock either, as the Hawkeyes have stiff competition from inside the conference with both Penn State and Michigan after the Windsor product. Given the recent success of Noah Fant and T.J. Hockenson, it would be hard to not give long pause to what Iowa can offer.
