5 fun events that should join breakdancing at the Summer Olympics

The Olympics are adding breakdancing for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, but the IOC needs to add a few more events for the summer games.

Breakdancing received provisional approval for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Breaking as it’ll be officially called joins surfing, skateboarding and sport climbing which will make their debut at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. This is the biggest day for breakdancing since Step Up 2: The Streets came out in 2008. But the IOC shouldn’t stop with breaking if they want to cater to a diverse and young audience.

  1. Chugging beer – Move over Usain Bolt! The fastest man in the world would be replaced by the fastest drinker in the world. Imagine the Germans would dominate in this event. Although, this could be a way for Tom Brady to earn Olympic gold to add to his Super Bowls.
  2. Beer pong – Honestly, add beer to any existing Olympic sport and it’s a new Olympic sport. But beer pong is the ultimate test of hand-eye coordination while feeling the effects of mass consumption of alcohol. There may be no tougher test of the human body.
  3. Competitive binge-watching – Can you watch all 73 episodes of Game of Thrones in four days without losing your head? Have you persevered through all nine seasons of The Office and didn’t skip the ones without Michael Scott? If that sounds like you, Olympic gold could be in your future
  4. Competitive eating – Why does Joey Chestnut only get the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on the Fourth of July to show off his elastic gut that expands like an anaconda after eating a gazelle? Imagine the showdowns every four years between him and Kobayashi stuffing cased meats down their gullets for their home country.
  5. World’s Strongest Man – For the love of Magnús Ver Magnússon it’s overdue for the Strongman to get some Olympic glory. Weightlifting is a part of the games, but the world needs to see a 6-foot-9, 425-pounds in the Fingal Fingers, Atlas Stones and pulling a train with a rope.

It could be I’m biased because I’ve trained for four of these five events for the majority of my life. But I’m chasing the gold medal and I want to be a trailblazer for young athletes who will look up to me one day as the first to medal in chugging beer, beer pong, binge-watching and competitive eating. Training never stops. One day, I hope the IOC makes my dream a reality.

What other “inspired” events would you add to the Olympics? Sound off with your picks in the comments.
