Is Spider-Man: Far From Home okay for kids?
By Kareem Gantt
Spider-Man: Far From Home is now out in theaters, and a lot of families will be heading to the box office in droves. So, is the new film okay for the kids?
One thing we know for sure — families will be flocking to theaters to see the new Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Sure, diehard Marvel fans will be among the crowd, but the majority of what will make up the movie theater, especially during the week, will be families with kids in tow. It is summertime, after all.
With that in mind, it begs the question: Is Far From Home okay to watch for kids?
To start off, the movie is rated PG-13, meaning some scenes may be inappropriate for children under 13. With this being a Marvel superhero film, violence will surely be in the film, but what sets the new Spider-Man apart from its Marvel counterparts (and really, the older Spider-Man films) is that this version carries more of a comedic and lighthearted tone, which could be a turn off to some Marvel movie buffs, but will be more kid-friendly than its Marvel companions.
Having said that, there will be fights and some scenes that could become a bit too intense for kids. Also, be prepared to hear some language that won’t be suitable for your 4 or 5-year-old. If you’re one of those parents who doesn’t want to expose their children to cursing, this is a caution.
There won’t be a lot of cursing (it’s a Marvel movie, after all), but we expect there will be some cursing nonetheless, so take that under advisement.
Even with the sci-fi violence and the language factored in, Spider-Man: Far From Home is beyond a suitable film for kids. There is also a reasonable argument to be made that Far From Home is the most kid-friendly Marvel film in its roster.
So don’t fret, parents, as Spider-Man: Far From Home will be just fine for the family.
