Fantasy Football – Pre-Draft Quarterback Rankings

Welcome everyone to another series of articles to prepare you for your 2019 fantasy football draft! Over the next week or so, we will be covering my pre-draft rankings by positions. So we’ll be covering the quarterback, running-back, wide receiver, tight end positions and also defenses. I know we’re a little early for draft days in our leagues but there is no such thing as preparing too early! So buckle up and let’s go through these rankings!

20 – Sam Darnold (New York Jets)

2018 Stats: 2,865 Yards | 17 TDs | 15 INTs | 57.7% Completion

Sam Darnold started 13 games last season and it wasn’t the prettiest by any means. He brought some good and some bad with him in his rookie season but he handled the New York spotlight pretty well. The Jets added one big weapon on offense with Le’Veon Bell who is coming in with some fresh legs after sitting the 2018 season out. If Bell can get his feet right on the ground then that will take some major pressure off of Darnold’s shoulders for his sophomore season.

19 – Mitchell Trubisky (Chicago Bears)

2018 Stats: 3,223 Yards | 24 TDs | 12 INTs | 66.6% Completion

Mitchell Trubisky is another young quarterback looking to improve in a striving system for his third season. Trubisky was able to triple his touchdowns while keeping his interceptions to somewhat of a low in 2018. The Chicago Bears have a pretty good defense to take some pressure off of their offense, which also showed last season. The offense is still somewhat on the lacking side as Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel, and Trey Burton are questionable weapons.

18 – Kirk Cousins (Minnesota Vikings)

2018 Stats: 4,298 Yards | 30 TDs | 10 INTs | 70.1% Completion

There was a lot of talk about Kirk Cousins and his new home to kick off the 2018 season. Would he actually be able to get the job done in Minnesota? Well, Kirk Cousins did and he will most likely repeat his performance once again. He has two great weapons with Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs while Dalvin Cook mans the backfield. We also can’t forget Kyle Rudolph at the tight end position which gives Cousins multiple weapons to scare defenses with.

17 – Nick Foles (Jacksonville Jaguars)

2018 Stats: 1,413 Yards | 7 TDs | 4 INTs | 72.3% Completion

Nick Foles is a man who has barely played a full season of games in his past three years but has also walked away with a Superbowl and a Superbowl MVP title. It’s hard to gauge what he’ll do in this Jacksonville system but he can handle the pressure as we have seen before. Foles won’t have major weapons though. Dede Westbrook will be his best friend while Fournette takes some pressure off for him through the ground.

16 – Jimmy Garoppolo (San Francisco 49ers)

2018 Stats: 718 Yards | 5 TDs | 3 INTs | 59.6 Completion

Injuries plagued the San Francisco 49ers last year at almost every position, but their quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, felt it the worst and early on in the season. Jimmy G was only able to log 3 games last season and he may not even be ready for week one in 2019. If healthy and ready to rock, he’ll have George Kittle, Marquise Goodwin, and Deebo Samuel to connect with. He also gets a helping hand in the backfield with a “running-back by committee” with Jerick McKinnon, Tevin Coleman, and Matt Breida. 49er fans are ready to see Jimmy Garopollo for a full season and healthy to throw the rock.
