WWE Extreme Rules 2019: Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins vs. Lacey Evans and Baron Corbin preview

The ongoing sagas of Seth Rollins, Baron Corbin, Becky Lynch and Lacey Evans will collide together in an extreme rules, winners take all match at WWE Extreme Rules.

Since WrestleMania 35 ended, Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch have been tangled with Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans in their respective singles matches. Both Rollins and Lynch have dispatched their opponents on two separate occasions. At WWE Stomping Grounds worlds collided when Evans became Corbin’s special guest referee in his WWE Universal Championship match against Rollins. Evans made every attempt to sway favor to Corbin with underhanded tactics, but when she landed a low-blow on Rollins it brought Lynch out to even the odds.

This brought about the match at Extreme Rules and also shined a big spotlight on Rollins and Lynch’s real-life relationship. Having the men’s and women’s Raw champions dating is certainly a first and with Rollins’ and Lynch’s massive popularity with the fans the WWE looked to capitalize. There are other WWE performers who are dating or married so one has to wonder how the champs feel about having their personal life chosen to be a strong focus of the upcoming Extreme Rules match.

In his interview with the Sports Illustrated Media Podcast, Rollins explained how he and Lynch initially felt hesitant, but after some discussion decided it might be an interesting experience to go public.

"“I know some of her concerns about that and mine as well. We had discussions but once we had brainstormed about it and then — at the end of the day, they’re not going to go forward with the idea if we’re not comfortable with it. Once we sat down and brainstormed how cool it might be and the options that were in front of us on the table, we decided it would actually be a fun thing to do and a cool thing to do and really strike while the iron’s hot.”"

When Guide Live spoke to Lynch about putting her relationship on screen she said it was inevitable.

"That’s something that came about recently. I think seeing the potential to have two top stars fighting side by side as champions is something that we couldn’t really ignore, so here we are."

More than likely their relationship will be a factor in the outcome of the Extreme Rules match one way or another. The Extreme Rules stipulation can make for some interesting highlights during the match especially considering Rollins’ recent affinity for chair shots. The added wrinkle that Corbin and Evans will win both championships if they emerge victorious — or that their title shots will come to an end if they don’t — also raises the stakes in what is likely to be the show’s main event.
