The Lion King will be premiering in theaters soon, and one question on moviegoers minds is if the film will be in 3D? IMAX? Or both?

There isn’t an understatement in saying that The Lion King is going to be an event.

The new version, directed by Jon Favreau, was one of the more highly anticipated Disney remakes not just for 2019, but in recent history. That’s because the original 1994 film is considered by many to be one of the best films of all-time, and fans are hoping that the new film doesn’t make a mockery of the timeless classic.

So there isn’t any doubt that The Lion King will be racking up the bucks in box office sales, which leaves one question for moviegoers who will be taking the kids to the theater to join The Pride.

Will the new Lion King be in 3D or IMAX?

The answer? Yes, it will actually be in both, and why wouldn’t it?

Just looking at the trailer to the film (which I’ve seen almost 52 times), the visual effects of the 2019 version simply begs for this film to be experienced in both 3D and IMAX. If you don’t have the money to spend on the two enhanced viewing options, you can always take in the matinee and watch it in the standard 2-D version.

However, to really get the sense of being within the world The Lion King creates, taking it in on the IMAX and/or 3D screen will be very much worth your money. That could be the one advantage the 2019 version will have over the original. When the original was released in ’94, IMAX screens were rarely available, and nearly all had to see the film in standard 2-D.

Imagine seeing the original in that IMAX format? What an experience that would have been? Thankfully, Disney has sensed that the new Lion King should be in IMAX and 3D, and we thank them for doing this.

Next. All aboard the Florence Pugh bandwagon. dark
