5 best training camp battles for Raiders in 2019
By Brad Weiss
The Oakland Raiders have a lot more talent on both sides of the ball heading into 2019, and here are five training camp battles to keep an eye on this summer.
Coming off a four-win season in 2018, the Oakland Raiders knew they needed to do something to turn this franchise around. With a first-year general manager in Mike Mayock, the Raiders started rebuilding the roster early on, swinging an unbelievable trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers for elite wide receiver Antonio Brown.
From there, the Raiders starting building up the roster via free agency, bringing in some big-name talent like defensive back Lamarcus Joyner, offensive tackle Trent Brown, and wide receiver Tyrell Williams to name a few. In addition, the team went into the 2019 NFL Draft with three first-round picks, which they actually kept, and bolstered both sides of the ball.
As the team heads to training camp next week, there are still plenty of questions to be answered. While they have brought in a bunch of talent to a roster that was pretty horrible towards the end of last season, the team still needs to figure out what they have at a ton of spots this summer.
In this piece, we take a look at five training camp battles to keep an eye on as the team reports to Napa for training camp. They have some of their pieces already in place, but these five spots are definitely up for grabs over the next few weeks.
