MLB DFS Pitching Primer: Cash Game Ace

Jacob DeGrom (10.6k both sites) @ San Francisco

The top tier of pitching is LOADED and I wouldn’t blame you for using someone other than DeGrom as your cash game SP1 tonight. However, for me, he has the best combination of price, matchup, and park factor of the top-tier arms on this slate. I also have to recommend him as my top pitching option or else @2locksports will fire me and replace me with a more “pro-Mets” pitching analyst. Editors note – this is true, always deGOAT. Always.

In all seriousness, DeGrom is the fourth-most expensive pitcher and is somehow cheaper than Patrick Corbin, who has a terribly difficult matchup on the road in Atlanta. I can see the argument for Verlander or Ryu as huge home favorites, but I’ll stick with the reigning NL Cy Young winner on the road as a -190 favorite.

In yesterday’s article, I mentioned the “Coors effect” as one of the reasons I was on Noah Syndergaard and he came through with 8 strikeouts in 7 strong innings. DeGrom has an even filthier slider than Thor does and I could see him piling up double-digit strikeouts and pitching deep into this one.

DeGrom has a 2.91 ERA in 7 starts against the Giants over the last 5 years with 55 strikeouts over 46 innings. It’s possible that some “game log watchers” avoid DeGrom based on his modest production lately, but this is a prime matchup for him and I expect him to dominate tonight.
