In recent years, the Fighting Irish have incorporated some green looks for the Shamrock Series, hearkening back to the days of Frank Leahy. Some of the looks have been truly stunning in their own right. They even rocked pinstripes for recent games at Yankee Stadium. In general, though, Notre Dame offers the sort of continuity in their look that makes it as easy to identify them in old footage from decades ago as it is to visualize them in the present.

You know you will see them in gold pants, the Under Armour logo on the right hip and the interlocked ND school logo on the left. Barring a special event or game at a neutral site, you are also going to see the Fighting Irish bedecked in either a navy or white jersey. And yes, you are going to get to see those gold helmets.

Love them or hate them, there is nothing quite as iconic as the hand-painted gold helmets adorning the heads of Notre Dame players as they come out of the tunnel. Anyone who follows college football need only catch the light off the helmet to know which team they are about to see take the field.

While other schools also wear gold helmets, none seem to shimmer quite as much as the Irish lids. Notre Dame has found a great balance between embracing the opportunity to try something new in their uniforms while also remaining committed to their traditional look.

Whether you favor a classic look or something with a modern twist, the Fighting Irish provide both in a way that, whether you love Notre Dame or hate them, ties together the best look in college football.
