Ranking the 50 most visually-appealing college football uniforms
By Zach Bigalke
Plenty of programs across college football have adopted the Broncos as their mascot. It affords a great range of uniform options, several of which are among the top 50 in the sport. One set of Broncos that do justice to the mascot is Western Michigan, with their brown and gold color scheme and a great oversized helmet logo.
The country got a front-row look at the stylish set of togs donned by Western Michigan in 2016, as the Broncos made an undefeated run through the regular season and nearly upended Wisconsin in the Cotton Bowl. With a color scheme that is relatively unique at the FBS level, the Broncos have put out a variety of uniforms that embrace the unorthodox color scheme to great effect.
During the P.J. Fleck era, the uniforms incorporated oars into the designs as a play on his “Row the Boat” philosophy. While Fleck has moved on from Kalamazoo, the spirit of sleek alternate uniforms continues. In recent years, they have veered from their traditional colors to produce all-grey and all-black styles.
For fans that love to tune into midweek MACtion, the Broncos offer a defined look that sets them apart from the rest of their conference rivals and puts them among the 50 best-dressed teams in the country.
