NFL DFS: Five Advanced Stats You Need to Know This Season
What’s up fantasy football fans? It’s the end of July and training camps are officially open. The dog days of summer are upon us and NFL fever is quickly setting in as fans across the country are anxiously awaiting the return of America’s favorite professional sports league.
I’m “Thunder Dan” and I’ve been covering MLB DFS here at FanSided Fantasy for the last four months with my Pitching Primer. Some of you may have also followed my FanDuel NBA Breakdown this winter, too. I’m happy to announce that I’ll be covering some NFL DFS again this season at FanSided Fantasy, focusing mainly on GPP pivots for Draftkings.
I’m here to offer some insight as to how you can take your NFL DFS knowledge to the next level this season. Every year more people start playing DFS, which is great and as someone who makes a living (albeit a meager one) giving people advice on who to play in their lineups, I am excited by how quickly DFS has grown. However, the amount of information that is available to the average player (both free and premium content) continues to grow as well.
Put it this way, the field is getting sharper all the time. If you aren’t looking for ways to improve your own lineup-making process, you’re likely going to be further behind this year than last. You can pay a lot of money for DFS pros to tell you who to play and let them crunch the advanced stats, or you can try to increase your own knowledge and research process. Today, we are going to look at five advanced statistics that your average DFS player probably doesn’t take into account on a weekly basis with the goal of giving you an edge this upcoming NFL season!
