The 50 greatest college football teams throughout history
1. Best college football teams of all-time: Nebraska 1995
The best team in the history of college football. A lofty goal to set upon one’s self but not necessarily a difficult decision.
The answer to the much-asked question is the 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers. In order to follow up on a stellar season the year before in which they won the national championship, Nebraska would come into the season looking to go back-to-back with national titles.
Their first three games could really tell the story of exactly how that season was going to go for the Cornhuskers — they easily blew out Oklahoma State, Michigan State and Arizona State (the first two on the road) by scores of 64-21, 50-10 and 77-28.
Tom Osborne’s Cornhusker team blew out competition left and right on the year, scoring 50-plus points per game while allowing an average of just 14.
Ahman Green and Tommie Frazier headlined a ridiculously talented roster that sits as arguably the best not only in Cornhusker’s history but in the history of modern football. The Cornhuskers beat four top-ten teams in the season and no game was ever closer than 23 points.
The team even finished their season with a 62-24 massacre of the Florida Seminoles in the Fiesta Bowl, easily showing who the No. 1 team in the country was and, at the same time, who the best team in football history is. A massive 33 players who participated in this team would eventually move on to play the game of football at the next level, solidly cementing their legacy in all of football’s glorious history.
The 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers are the best college football team of all time.
