Road to All Out episode 03 recap: All About Cody

“Road To…” is a weekly YouTube series from All Elite Wrestling that introduces talent to the fans as well as give them a behind-the-scenes look. This current incarnation is leading up to All Out on August 31.

MJF Loves Cody

When Shawn Spears attacked Cody at Fyter Fest, MJF was the first one out there (Brandi was already ringside). He says that Cody was one of the first believers in him and brought him to AEW. MJF is a “Cody Rhodes guy”. How much? He unbuttoned his suit jacket to reveal Pharaoh on his tie.

MJF says Spears was never a true friend to Cody like he is. Spears used his relationship with Cody to ride his coattails and then turned on him because he left him behind. MJF declares that Spears was trying to end Cody’s career and calls him a “piece of s–t.” If they ever face each other in the ring again, MJF will “knock his a– out cold.”

We then cut to a montage to hype up Cody and Spears. We see Cody jogging with Pharaoh before it cuts to Spears and Tully Blanchard strolling through an airport. There’s footage of Cody training mixed with clips of him being attacked at Fyter Fest. Blanchard and Spears are riding in a limo heading to the AEW offices.

The pair arrive to meet with Nik Sobic, AEW VP of Business Operations, and Megha Parekh, AEW/Jacksonville Jaguars Chief Legal Officer, for a contract signing for a “potential” match with Cody at All Out. Megha talks about how doing legal work for AEW is different than anything she’s done and how it’s a different challenge every day. Nik calls Cody and leaves a voicemail. He mentions that Cody is never late and he hopes everything is okay. Blanchard chimes in that they’re waiting for him and he seems annoyed.

While they’re waiting, Blanchard goes over the contract. Nik says that Blanchard is no fun when it comes to contracts. Blanchard requests a change to the contract: Cody can only have one person in his corner at All Out. He can’t have his entourage plus his wife and dog. Spears only has one person, so Cody only gets one.

There’s footage of Cody on his way to the office in a limo. He walks in and signs the contract. Nik tries to tell him that there’s been a change, but Cody says it doesn’t matter and leaves. Spears stood up as soon as Cody arrived and is mad that nothing else happens. Blanchard tried to calm him down and tells him he did good.
