What’s the best fight song in college? From USC to Rocky Top, we ranked the 10 best college football fight songs that always get the crowd amped up.

Whether you’re tailgating in the parking lot, watching your team take the field, or celebrating a score, few things compare to college football fight songs. And, generally speaking, they’re all pretty good.

But some schools boast a fight song that, even when opposing fans hear them, can’t help but sing along (or whistle, hum, etc.). That’s what this list is all about. Finding the best of the best in college fight songs.

10. West Virginia

And there’s no surprise West Virginia University’s fight song kicks off this list, although their’s isn’t John Denver’s “Country Roads,” or even Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline.” The official fight song is titled, “Hail, West Virginia,” and is performed by the WVU Marching Band, aka, “The Pride of West Virginia.

The song was composed by WVU alumni Earl Miller and Ed McWorther in 1915, with the lyrics written by Fred B. Deem. During every pregame in Morgantown, The Pride performs “Hail, West Virginia” while making the outline of the state with their formation.

How many days until football season?

“Now is the time boys, to make a big noise
No matter what the people say,
For there is naught to fear; the gang’s all here
So hail to West Virginia, Hail!”
