The final day for Premier League clubs to transfer players produced a plethora of moves. Here’s a roundup of the biggest deals — and some that didn’t happen.

The summer transfer window for Premier League came to a close on Thursday, 24 hours before the Premier League officially kicks off a new season. The wheeling and dealing was in full swing in the hours leading up to the noon ET deadline.

Some of those summer transfer rumors came true and some didn’t.

The past two months have seen their fair share of rumors and deals that could potentially make some clubs more competitive this coming season.

The summer transfer season, however, doesn’t end here. Italy has set a deadline for Aug. 23, while clubs in France, Germany and Spain have until Sept. 2 to finalize their rosters.

For those who missed out on what happened and what it means, here are the three clubs that made some meaningful deals, while in some cases also missing out on some.

Manchester United part with Romelu Lukaku, keep Paul Pogba for now

One of the best Premier League strikers of the last few years will depart Manchester United after signing with Italian side Inter Milan.

Lukaku’s rep Federico Pastorello spent Wednesday in talks with Man United in London to sort out the drawn out saga. The two sides finally came to an agreement before the deadline, settling on an $85 million transfer fee.

In Lukaku, Inter Milan gets a much-needed striker. The deal is the third most-expensive signing by a Serie A team after Juventus signed Cristiano Ronaldo last summer and Gonzalo Higuain in 2016.

The move sealed the fate, for now at least, for Frenchman Paul Pogba to remain at Old Trafford. The World Cup-winning midfielder was seeking a deal (Real Madrid had been pursuing him), but Lukaku’s departure may signal that Manchester United isn’t interested in selling off any more attacking players.

Tottenham miss out on Paulo Dybala, settle on Giovani Lo Celso

The move to get Argentina and Juventus playermaker Paulo Dybala fell through, but Spurs settled on a consolation prize that will please fans.

The club signed Dybala’s countryman Giovani Lo Celso. The Real Betis midfielder cost Tottenham a $67 million fee. The Dybala deal feel through, London’s The Guardian newspaper reported, following complications relating to the players’ image rights.

Lo Celso 45 appearances for the La Liga club in all competitions last season, tallying 16 goals. Those scoring heroics could help Spurs in their bid to top the table as well as stay competitive in the Champions League, where they lost to Liverpool in the final.

Spurs also bolstered its backline after also agreeing to sign Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham, who accepted $37 million for budding left back.

Arsenal bolster defense with David Luiz and Kieran Tierney

This was another deal many were expecting to happen. Arsenal finalized a deal for the Brazilian center back, luring him away from Chelsea for a relatively low $10 million fee.

The Brazilian international had sought a move away from Stamford Bridge and trained separately from his teammates on Wednesday.

Arsenal fans also rejoiced just moments after the Luiz deal was made official with the announcement of the signing of Celtic full back Kieran Tierney for a $30 million transfer fee.
