A five-count rundown from this week’s episode of WWE NXT, keeping you up to date on the latest happenings in the black and gold brand.

This week’s edition of NXT was good for people who haven’t been watching the show for the past month or so. But for everyone who has, there really wasn’t a whole lot to write about as far as this episode is concerned.

But we’re going to do our best to try and provide you a comprehensive recap anyway. So without further ado, this is the NXT 5 Count for the August 7 episode!

1. It’s time for a contract signing

NXT kicked off this week with a contract signing between the Street Profits and Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish of the Undisputed Era for the NXT Tag Team Championships at TakeOver: Toronto this Saturday night.

General manager William Regal oversaw the proceedings as he is normally known to do in the black and gold brand. The Street Profits did their best New Age Outlaws impression to mock O’Reilly and Fish as they handled their introductions to the ring. It was entertaining. The champs have really found themselves on the microphone over the last couple of months and it shows with how comfortable they are with their promos.

Fish tells the Street Profits that they aren’t on their level and says at TakeOver they have no chance of leaving with the titles because they are better in the ring and funnier than them. O’Reilly makes the joke that the Profits actually being the NXT Tag Team Champions is a punchline.

Montez Ford responds with an incredibly passionate promo that was very well done, running down everyone the Era has beaten and why it’s so important that they win on Saturday. Angelo Dawkins chimes in that they will win on Saturday and that was “undisputed.” From there, the contracts were signed and the match was official. No physical altercation ensued, which is always refreshing to see when it doesn’t happen. This was a solid way to kick off the show.
