NFL DFS – Running Backs

Jordan Ellis CIN RB

When Trayveon Williams exited the game due to a rib injury, Jordan Ellis, an undrafted rookie out of Virginia, really made a name for himself. Ellis actually led the Bengals in rushing with 11 yards on 3 carries, but posted an impressive 5 receptions, 44 yards, and even hauled in a touchdown catch from Bengals third-string quarterback, Ryan Finley.

It’s unlikely the Bengals will give Mixon or Gio Bernard a ton of work this week, so an injured Williams could mean another nice workload for Ellis. This is definitely a situation to monitor as we get closer to kickoff.

Alfred Blue – JAX RB

Coach Marrone is on record as saying that the plan is for the Jaguars to only have their first unit on the field for around twenty snaps. He also conceded that a few of the starters probably won’t see the field until the third preseason game.

With Ryquell Armstead dealing with a concussion, if reports come out that Fournette is being held out, the running back room in Jacksonville will be fairly empty.

In Jacksonville’s second preseason game in 2018, backup running back, T.J. Yeldon logged 10 carries to go along with 5 receptions. That was with Fournette receiving 8 carries as well.

Blue isn’t quite the same threat to catch the ball out of the backfield as Yeldon, but the stars might still be aligning for him to record 10-15 touches, especially if they limit Fournette. Thomas Rawls is another guy to keep an eye on who could end up soaking up a ton of second half touches.
