Southampton vs. Liverpool live stream: Watch Premier League online

Southampton face Liverpool at St. Mary’s Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 17. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
After avoiding relegation last season, Southampton got off to a terrible start in their first game of the season. It could get even worse for the Saints as they host Liverpool at St. Mary’s Stadium on Saturday. The Reds opened the Premier League season with an impressive 4-1 victory over Norwich.
Southampton finished 58 points behind Liverpool last season. In their first game this season, the Saints lost 3-0 to Burnley last season. A lopsided loss against Liverpool could get Southampton in an early hole. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was unable to start last weekend against Burnley but the Southampton captain should be able to play all 90 minutes against Liverpool. Southampton will need a strong performance from Hojbjerg, as the Saints attempt to slow down Liverpool’s attack. If Liverpool can control possession and get players forward, Southampton could be in for a long game.
After beating Norwich, Liverpool returned to action on Wednesday. The reigning Champions League winners traveled to Istanbul to play Europa League winners Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup. After not starting against Norwich, Sadio Mane started against Chelsea and scored twice, helping Liverpool win in penalties. Jurgen Klopp’s team finished one point behind Manchester City in the Premier League title race last season. If Liverpool are going to snap their nearly three-decade title draught, they cannot afford to drop any points to any team outside of the top six.

Liverpool have won four straight games against Southampton. The Saints have not beaten the Reds since March 20, 2016, Klopp’s first season in charge of Liverpool. Mane came off the bench to score twice for Southampton, while Virgil van Dijk was the starting center-back for the Saints.
