MLB DFS top plays August 23: Berrios is too cheap
MLB DFS Pitching Plays
Jose Berrios – Berrios is not a player that frequently is featured in my articles, but today he is a phenomenal option. He has a 4.23 xFIP on the season, 23% K rate, 43% GB rate, and only 35% HC. One major factor to consider is that he is pitching at home, and Berrios has some crazy home/road splits. Detroit is a team that we can fell confident in targeting. Against RHP, they have a 25% K rate, 45% GB rate, and a .154 ISO. Berrios will see a good bit of righties, where he does a great job at managing contact, and has a very slight strikeout boost. He is my favorite pitcher on the slate, and at below 9k on FanDuel, he should see some decent ownership.
Lance Lynn – This is a player that has gotten very little respect this season. Not only is he in the midst of his best campaign to date, but Lynn get a juicy match-up with the White Sox who I love to target. They currently have a 25% K rate, 48% GB rate, and a whooping .131 ISO against RHP. Lynn has been elite, posting a 3.72 xFIP, 27% K rate, 43% GB rate, and 39% HC. He should see a decent bit of righties, where his K rate shoots up to almost 35%. Yes the ISO does take a very slight increase, and the same goes for the HC, but this team has very little power, and Lynn has been outstanding all year. Lock him into your tourneys with confidence.
