[opening riff to “The Boys Are Back in Town”]

You ever notice how in the legendary life-affirming anthem “The Boys Are Back in Town” we never really find out where it was The Boys were? Was it prison? University? Just riding around and straight up livin’?

Regardless, at TakeOver: Cardiff the boys will be back in town. After insisting they be able to perform in front of their home crowd, Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster were told they’d have to earn their spots.

Last week, Webster brought them one step closer to the edge of the card, defeating Mark Coffey with a lethal Small Package. This week, Andrews cemented their spot, dispatching of James Drake via a roll-up. The pair will be added to the NXT UK Tag Team Championship match, making it a triple threat between them, Gallus and Grizzled Young Veterans.

Since both Andrews and Drake are very talented, it’s a fun and exciting match. One wild sequence sees Andrews attempt a backflip, only to get caught out of mid-air by Drake, only to hit a tornado DDT on Drake.

Later, Drake hits Andrews with an enziguiri and tries to lift up his staggered opponent for a slam of some sort, but Andrews somehow counters that by landing on the back of Drake’s shoulders and hitting a vicious-looking reverse rana. In short, Andrews is very athletic and Drake is good at getting dropped on his head.

As things wind on, Gallus emerge from the back to take out Webster. Zack Gibson — mostly uninvolved but still getting mercilessly heckled throughout — wants them out of there, doesn’t want to see their faces until their two-on-two match-up with no third team added via merit at Cardiff. Whether or not they caused a distraction, Andrews reverses a Drake suplex into a stunner and then rolls up Drake for the three-count. A third team has been added via merit.

Andrews and Webster are of course ecstatic. Win-or-lose at TakeOver, the boys will be back in town, surely down at the Welsh equivalent of Dino’s Bar and Grill.
