*Extreme James Hetfield voice* college football is back and nothing else matters.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS BACK AND NOTHING ELSE MATTERS

Yeah, college football was back Saturday with two games, but it doesn’t really count. That was more like preseason college football. Sure, it happened, but did it really matter? Thursday kicks off a five-day binge of college football that’ll consume my life. And then, it’ll consume my life until early January when the champ is crowned. I’ll miss seeing my family and friends as my weekends are booked from here until the New Year, and honestly, I spend so much time watching college football that I feel like Trevor Lawrence, Tua Tagovailoa, Sam Ehlinger are family and friends at this point.

To all my fellow college football die-hards, congratulations. We made it.

Andrew Luck’s retirement was two-fold

Andrew Luck retired and that meant Capt. Andrew Luck also had to retire. Colts fans booed Luck when he walked off the field and I’m booing the retirement of the Captain. In my heart of hearts, I am, however, happy for the Capt. to be back home on the farm with mother and tending to the hogs and making sure there is an endless supply of squirrel oil.

Chicken joint Popeyes out of chicken

You may have heard, but Popeyes has a new chicken sandwich. It kinda made everyone crazy for the last week and a half. I wrote about the phenomenon and where the Popeyes spicy chicken sandwich ranks in the pantheon of fast food chicken sandwiches. For my money, I have never had a better fried chicken sandwich from a fast food joint.

The word quickly spread with everyone and their mother going to Popeyes to see if it lived up to the hype. Those who were lucky enough to try it bought into the hype. The lines at the drive-thru were literally around the block at my local Popeyes and I could watch an entire episode of The Office on my phone as I waited. But it was worth the wait. Unless, of course, you waited all that time in the line only to get to the order window and see a sign that they’re out of chicken.

HOW?!

How can a chicken place run out of chicken? It’s nothing short of a travesty. And it wasn’t just the local chains running out of foul to fry. It was literally every Popeyes that they had to announce it was sold out and there won’t be any for the foreseeable future. BUT, in more clever fast food marketing, they did send out a tweet where you can download their app to find out when and where you can get one.

The Challenge returns

Okay, so I may have lied at the top of this when I said college football is back and nothing else matters. The lie detector determined that was a lie because The Challenge returned Wednesday night. This show is my favorite guilty pleasure. But even saying that is not true, because I don’t feel guilty watching this show. This season is U.S. vs. U.K. so it’s basically like a Revolutionary War reenactment. The crazy twist is the U.S. team not picking CT as their reinforcement so that’s only going to motivate him all season. This is such a slap in the face and he’s already showing signs of the old CT that uses to rage all over everyone. He’s going to be a monster this season.

I’ve watched every season and will watch even though the show is straying away from what it began as and it more of a hybrid dating/competition/reality series now. But I don’t care, let Johnny Bananas be on the show until he’s 74years old. Let Cara Maria complain about her TV showmance even though everyone is sick of hearing it. Keep bringing back Wes who is the best manipulator. And one of these years will see Leroy and Nany finally win, right?!

Special reward for loyal viewers this season will be 90-minute episodes so you know there was just to much good stuff the producers couldn’t edit that out so they went for supersized episodes. That means more Laurel and Cara Maria feuding, more Wes and Bananas needling each other, more hookups and more drama. I’m already looking forward to next Wednesday.
