Bulletproof Bashers- Sat. Aug. 31 evening slates- 2B, 3B

SECOND BASE:

Jonathan Villar, BAL

Opposing Starting Pitcher: RHP Jorge Lopez, KCR

The switch-hitting Villar boasts a .352 wOBA against right-handed pitching, while Royals starter Jorge Lopez has been bounced around by lefty bats for a .339 average, .406 wOBA and .240 ISO. Additionally, he’s surrendered a mammoth 32.9 percent line-drive rate and 42.9 percent hard-contact rate to that handedness at home.

Lopez is also yielding a .423 CXwOBA on the curve/knuckle-curve that serves as his most frequently thrown pitch to lefty bats. Villar owns a .396 CXwOBA against the pitch. He also boasts a .348 wOBA/.367 CXwOBA versus the mid-90s fastball that serves as Lopez’s second-most often thrown pitch to left-handed hitters, one Lopez allows a massive .414 wOBA/.481 CXwOBA on.

The Royals bullpen also will make for good targets. It’s yielded a majors-high 7.03 ERA and .304 average, along with a .386 wOBA, to the 181 batters it’s faced over the last 10 days.

THIRD BASE:

Asdrubal Cabrera, WAS

Opposing Starting Pitcher: RHP Pablo Lopez, MIA

The switch-hitting Cabrera has a .321 wOBA against right-handed pitching on the season, while Marlins starter Pablo Lopez has yielded a .288 average and .338 wOBA to lefty bats on the road. Cabrera also happens to do particularly well versus Lopez’s most frequently thrown pitch to left-handed hitters, a low 90s fastball. Cabrera has squared up on that pitch for a .348 wOBA/.391 CXwOBA while averaging a distance of 313.7 feet when making contact.

Cabrera is also a good changeup hitter, and that pitch serves as Lopez’s second-most utilized versus lefty hitters. The veteran slugger sports a .350 wOBA/.376 CXwOBA, along with a .266 ISO, versus the change. Then, when Lopez hits the showers, Cabrera will take on a Marlins bullpen that’s yielded an elevated .330 wOBA over the last 10 days (168-batter sample), making it an all-around solid matchup.
