Obsessing over Antonio Brown’s status with the Raiders is fun and all, but it’s time to shift our focus to actual games. The preseason has mercifully ended and that means it’s time to get serious about what bets you’re going to make on Sunday and Monday.

In this piece, we walk you through our five best picks for the weekend. Week 1 is typically really hard to read in advance, but there’s still value to be found if you look hard enough. As always, all of our odds are provided courtesy of Oddsshark.com.

5. Detroit +2 at Arizona

There’s a lot of excitement surrounding Kyler Murray’s debut with the Cardinals, but the truth is no one really knows what to expect from he and Kliff Kingsbury’s first NFL game together. Betting on the Lions isn’t nearly as much fun as backing fireworks from Arizona’s new offense, but it is the smarter play here.

Matthew Stafford happens to be the better quarterback in this match-up. That’s particularly important when you consider how weak the Cardinals secondary is going to be in this game. Remember, Patrick Peterson is suspended for the first six weeks of this season. That could easily lead to a big day for Kenny Golladay and the rest of the Lions’ receiving corps.

There’s also a pretty decent chance this will turn into a shootout. If you want to double down on this game take the over at either 45.5 or 46. Don’t get caught up in the Murray hype, the Lions are going to bring the rookie quarterback down to Earth very quickly.
