PGA course breakdown and key stats: “A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier”

Ladies and Gentlemen after a long and arduous two-week break, the PGA Tour will now resume for the 2019-2020 Season! We are just over a week removed from Rory Mcilroy’s impressive performance in East Lake in which he took home the Tour Championship in its new format and a cool 15 Million dollars. Let’s face it, many of us were very angry and raising pitchforks at the Tour when they announced the negative stroke tiers for the Tour Championship.

In the end, it served its purpose and the Sunday battle between Brooks Koepka and Rory Mcilroy was just what was in order to breathe life into the tournament which desperately needed the likes of Tiger Woods for viewership. The tiered strokes put the players in a positional advantage based on their FedEx point standings anyway, and finally, after years of having two winners at Atlanta’s Finale, the Tour Championship winner is also now rightfully the FedEx Cup winner as it should be.

I am excited to breakdown my first Course Analysis at FanSided, I will be correlating with Chris Aliperto as he will bring you his power rankings for the week, and I will give you a little history of the course, its features and specifics, as well as provide you with some Key Stats to isolate and look for given the week. There are many variances in golf, it can come from how a specific player is feeling, where they are with coaching at the moment, where their strengths and weaknesses are- but the most important variance is always the course that is competed on.

I am a firm believer in “Team Course Fit” which is a theory that emphasizes drafting the right players that have exhibited an advantage in a certain area which might give them an edge for the week given their statistical trends and matching them to the track at hand. With that said, let’s move on the “The Military Tribute at the Greenbier” in White Sulfur Springs, West Virginia.
