24. Seattle Mariners, 59-86, last in the AL West (ranked 24th last week)

The Mariners were smashed by Houston this past Sunday 21-1, their 6th straight loss, capping off a span of eight loses over their last 10 games. They also received news that OF Mitch Haniger suffered a setup back during his rehab from a ruptured testicle and will force him to miss the rest of the season.

There are a few bright spots to watch on the team, one being rookie LPH Justus Sheffield, one of the Mariners top prospects. The other is 1B Daniel Vogelbach, who’s hit 30 home runs and walked 85 times on the season, creating a .810 OPS for the slugger. Both players figure to be apart of the future in Seattle and hopefully give fans a reason to watch their final few weeks of games in the regular season.

23. Pittsburgh Pirates, 63-82, last in the NL Central (ranked 26th last week)

The Pirates waved the white flag towards the end of August adding players like Chris Archer, Mitch Keller, Keone Kela, Starling Marte, and Gregory Polanco all added to the IL. With their season mathematically over, Pittsburgh decided to essentially shut down a few players with some nagging injuries.

But despite losing some key players, the Pirates have gone .500 over their last 10 games and have the chance to play spoiler to a few of their divisional foes like the Cubs and Brewers. Beyond that, the Pirates are just hoping things go differently in 2020.
