Cruiserweight Champion Drew Gulak will face Humberto Carrillo and Lince Dorado in a triple threat match at Clash of Champions on September 15.

Drew Gulak won the Cruiserweight Championship on the Stomping Grounds Kickoff Show when he beat Tony Nese and Akira Tozawa. He has successfully defended his title on multiple kickoff shows ever since.

Several weeks ago on 205 Live, Humberto Carrillo was on Team Lorcan and got the win for the team. Lorcan and Carrillo faced each other the following week for the No. 1 contender spot. Carrillo was victorious. Over the last couple of months, Lince Dorado has been questioning Carrillo’s lucha style. Even in a match on the same team, the tension was palpable.

Last week, general manager Drake Maverick put Carrillo in a match with Dorado with the stipulation that Dorado would be added to the Clash of Champions match should he win. You can guess what happened, as it’s now a three way dance for the Cruiserweight Championship.

Gulak has been part of the 205 Live roster since its inception. His first title reign has seen several defenses and have all been very good. Gulak has stated time and again that he is “The Law.”

Carrillo was on NXT for a while, but quickly became a standout on the purple brand. He comes from a prestigious wrestling family and would be the first one to hold a title in WWE should he be victorious. Not only is Carrillo a favorite of 205 Live commentator Aiden English, but he’s fan favorite as well.

Dorado is a surprise in this match. As part of Lucha House Party, he is frequently overshadowed by his partners Kalisto and Gran Metalik. Dorado is a strong wrestler and showcases the typical lucha libre style. He has also been on 205 Live since the beginning. Dorado’s match with his nemesis shows that he can go toe-to-toe with a newer lucha style. The two will likely continue to face each other throughout their WWE careers.

Will Gulak’s technical wrestling style be enough to ground the high-flyers? Can Dorado and Carrillo put their differences aside to unseat Gulak or will that be their downfall? Will Nese be a factor? He helped Gulak beat up Carrillo and Dorado last week, but Gulak took the Cruiserweight title from him. Is he looking for revenge?
