Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens

The least shocking outcome of this past week was the trouncing the Baltimore Ravens put on the Miami Dolphins, 59-10. The most shocking performance might have been Lamar Jackson and the improvements he showed in the passing game.

During the offseason, there were questions about Lamar Jackson would improve as a passer. Well, in his first game, he quickly silenced the doubters temporarily throwing for 324 yards and five touchdowns with a perfect 158.3 passer rating. Jackson led the Ravens to touchdowns on six of their first seven possessions, all in the first half.

Jackson showed accuracy and deep ball prowess in finding Marquis “Hollywood” Brown and three other receivers for touchdowns. With plenty of time to throw against a tanking Dolphins team, this was the perfect game for Jackson to show off what he had worked on all offseason.

This ranking sits him third in the MVP rankings due to the convenience of playing the Dolphins. Make no mistake, this was an elite performance for Lamar Jackson and one that will create buzz about a Ravens offense that has the potential to be this explosive most weeks, if Jackson’s improvement is for real.

The Ravens host Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals next week.
