Titans need to bench Marcus Mariota for Ryan Tannehill
The Tennessee Titans need a spark after a disastrous first half Thursday night. Benching Marcus Mariota could provide a different look on offense.
The rain is falling in Jacksonville and the Tennessee Titans are struggling. Big time.
Marcus Mariota was 6-of16 for 62 yards at halftime and is being outplayed by the legendary Gardner Minshew II. If the rookie can play fine in the rain, there is no excuse for Mariota.
This is only one half of football but the Titans need some sort of spark to avoid a shutout in what is shaping up to be a rather boring game.
Bringing in Ryan Tannehill should not be out of the question at this point. 6-of-16 is just not going to cut it in an NFL game and Tannehill can at least provide a different look against the Jaguars defense. He may not be the ultimate hero Tennessee needs but he can’t do worse than Mariota already has.
Mariota only had 154 passing yards last week against Indianapolis and I have to imagine Mike Vrabel has his concerns. Bringing in a veteran like Tannehill this offseason to be the backup is different than having a journeyman there just to hold the clipboard.

The score is only 14-0 so the Titans could tie it up before the fourth quarter even arrives. Tannehill can come in and if he struggles, it will be a short-term replacement. Yet if he leads his team to victory, the Titans have a quarterback controversy on their hands.
Though such a situation is much better at 2-1 than 1-2.
