NFL DFS bargain bin: Week 3 Quarterbacks

Jameis Winston, TB vs. NYG (DraftKings- $5,400/FanDuel-$7,300/FantasyDraft- $11,100/Yahoo-$23)

Winston hasn’t exactly enjoyed a smooth landing in coach Bruce Arians’ offense, but he did enough to help the Buccaneers pull out the victory in Week 2 and has had some extra time off to further immerse himself in the scheme since Tampa last played Thursday, Sept. 12.

He’s one of several quarterbacks that are particularly priced attractively on DraftKings, but it’s the extra time between games and the matchup that makes him stand out to me this week.

The Giants come in allowing the third-most DraftKings/FantasyDraft points (29.3) and FanDuel/Yahoo (27.8) points per game to quarterbacks through two weeks, along with a 5:0 TD:INT.

New York is also allowing the fourth-most yards per drive (40.5) and third-most points per possession (3.15), making them one of the more generous defenses through the first two weeks. Winston can undeniably be mistake-prone at times, but New York’s nondescript pass rush should help him enjoy a cleaner pocket than he did versus the 49ers and Panthers the first two games.

Matthew Stafford, DET at PHI (DraftKings- $5,500/FanDuel-$6,900/FantasyDraft-$10,800/Yahoo-$31)

Stafford has looked more like the previous prolific version of himself over the first two weeks than he did most of last season, compiling 630 yards and five touchdowns versus the Cardinals and Chargers.

He now draws a match-up against an Eagles defense that has a stellar reputation stopping the run but that can definitely be had on the back end. Philadelphia is also getting increasingly thin on its vaunted defensive front, which should give Stafford more time to drop back and scan the field.

Philly is now missing both Malik Jackson and Tim Jernigan from the middle of its defensive line due to foot injuries.

In the secondary, corners Avonte Maddox and Ronald Darby haven’t exactly been sharp to start the season, as the Eagles are allowing the sixth-most DraftKings/FantasyDraft points (27.7) and seventh-most FanDuel/Yahoo points (24.7) per game to quarterbacks through the first two weeks, along with the third-most passing yards (700) overall.

Stafford impressively ranks fourth in average completed air yards (8.00) after two games, with only the esteemed trio of Deshaun Watson, Russell Wilson and Tom Brady ahead of him.

His 8.4 yards per attempt after two games also ranks as a career high, and he already has 11 completions of greater than 20 yards on his ledger. With another favorable and competitive match-up on tap, he’s a great way to save at the top and therefore have plenty of cash for other spots.
