WWE is starting their new season the week of September 30. With the new season starting, changes are happening on commentary.

WWE kicks off a new season for all of their US shows next week. Among the changes are new broadcast teams for both Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live.

RAW will still have a three-person team with Vic Joseph, Dio Maddin and the returning Jerry “The King” Lawler. Joseph has spent some time on commentary for 205 Live, NXT UK and the Mae Young Classic. Dio Maddin started on 205 Live several weeks ago, including the Cruiserweight Championship match at Clash of Champions. Maddin (Brennan Williams) is also a former NXT Superstar and NFL player. Lawler is of course a WWE Hall of Famer who has both wrestled and been on commentary in WWE.

SmackDown will move to a two-man booth with Corey Graves and Michael Cole staying paired up. Renee Young will be a special contributor. The blue brand also moves to Friday nights at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT on FOX.

NXT’s commentary team will stay the same with Mauro Ranallo, WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix and Nigel McGuinness. NXT begins airing live for two hours on USA on Wednesdays at 8 PM ET beginning October 2.

Starting on November 5, Young will host WWE Backstage every Tuesday night at 11 PM ET/ 8 PM PT on FS1. She will be joined by WWE Hall of Famer Booker T. They’ll be joined by various guests and personalities that will include current and former WWE Superstars.

There’s still no word on what’s happening with 205 Live. As of now, their broadcast team is Maddin, Joseph and Aiden English. It airs on Tuesdays on the WWE Network.

What do you think of the changes? Are you happy to see Lawler back? Will you be watching WWE Backstage?
