With multiple WWE legends set to make an appearance on the first episode of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX, it’s been confirmed that Steve Austin will be among those appearing.

With WWE heading into a new era of wrestling with Friday Night SmackDown‘s October 4 debut on FOX, WWE announced on Twitter that Steve Austin, alongside with multiple other legends such as Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair, will be appearing on the inaugural show.

SmackDown‘s highly-anticipated debut on FOX is being heavily promoted and will feature both past and present performers in order to generate interest in the blue brand.

WWE has taken a step or two in regards to bringing changes to their product this year. Following extensive negative feedback from fans and critics alike, some may argue that the quality of their programming has improved to a certain degree. With SmackDown going to a massive television network like FOX and the arrival of All Elite Wrestling, it certainly makes sense why the WWE has been trying to put forth more of an effort to their shows.

Professional wrestling has become very interesting as of late considering the lack of mainstream star-power that both WWE and AEW have. With SmackDown going to a major network, NXT being launched on the USA Network, and AEW set to make its debut on TNT on October 2, pro wrestling has the opportunity to grow more popular and attract fans on a mainstream level.

Only time will tell if wrestling in general can still attract a vast number of fans in 2019. But WWE certainly hopes that their FOX kickoff will do so, and are bringing in the big names to try to make sure it happens.
