Lokomotiv Moscow face Atletico Madrid at RZD Arena on Tuesday, Oct. 1. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

In the second game of the Champions League group stage, Lokomotiv Moscow host Atletico Madrid at RZD Arena. After one game, Moscow are first in the group, following their 2-1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen. Atletico drew 2-2 with Juventus in their first game of the tournament.

Lokomotiv are second in the Russian Premier Liga, sitting two points behind city rivals CSKA Moscow. Yuri Semin’s team are coming off of an impressive win against Zenit St. Petersburg. Grzegorz Krychowiak scored the winning goal against Zenit and has been great since moving to Lokomotiv. The Polish midfielder leads all Lokomotiv players with six goals this season and scored in their first game against Bayer Leverkusen. Krychowiak has formed a nice partnership with Aleksey Miranchuk in the middle of the field for Lokomotiv.

Atletico are still trying to integrate all of their new players into the club after a busy summer transfer period. Diego Simeone’s team spent over €243 million on 18 players as the club attempted to replace the 17 players that left the club for more than €313 million. Despite the significant turnover, Atletico are still a great defensive side.

The problem has been scoring goals. In their seven La Liga games, Atletico have only seven goals. Joao Felix is tied for the club lead with two goals this season but has struggled to form a partnership with Alvaro Morata or Diego Costa. For Atletico to go far in the competition, they will need their prized Portuguese teenager to create more chances for Morata and Costa.

Lokomotiv Moscow and Atletico Madrid have played against each other three times since 2007. The two clubs were drawn against each other in the 2017-18 Europa League, with Atletico winning both games by a combined scoreline of 8-1.
