Week 5 Fantasy Football start/sit

Tom Brady (NE) @ WSH

I know some of you may feel tempted to hit the panic button after this past Sunday’s performance against the Buffalo Bills, but we need to take this game into perspective. The Bills are one of the most conservative defenses out there, surrendering the fourth-least passing yards per game to opposing arms this year (196.5). Throughout the entirety of the game, Buffalo was making Brady’s afternoon miserable as he was pressured 17 times and was unable to complete half of his pass attempts (46.2%). He wound up finishing the day as QB27, throwing for 150 yards, no scores, and an interception. No need to fester though, Brady will have a shot at redemption this week as he will be heading to our nation’s capital to take on the Redskins Sunday. Washington is a much more lenient defense compared to Buffalo as they have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this year (21.1).

Jacoby Brissett (IND) @ KC

Although Brissett struggled against the likes of Oakland’s defense on Sunday and that he will be heading into a hostile environment such as Arrowhead Stadium this week, he is still worthy of a start. I haven’t been impressed with the Chiefs’ defense this year, especially after this past week’s performance against the Lions. Kansas City has given up the seventh-most passing yards per game to quarterbacks, along with seven touchdowns. On top of that, the Chiefs have only been able to pick off opposing passers three times this year, which is less than one time per game if my math is correct. Brissett can also make some magic happen on the ground and Kansas City is a fairly giving defense in that regard as well to mobile quarterbacks. Brissett’s value will increase exponentially if star wideout TY Hilton returns to the fold as well. Continue to monitor that situation as the week progresses folks. Keep Brissett in mind when finding a viable option under center this week.

Kyler Murray (ARI) @ CIN

Tough times are ahead for Cincinnati and their fans. The offense looks anemic and the defense is always constantly on the field until they are exhausted. With an offense that continues to get three-and-outs and can barely maintain possession of the ball for extended periods of time, how can a defense perform well? This is the perfect opportunity for a desperate Cardinals’ offense to launch their air-raid. The Bengals may not have surrendered a ton of yards through the air this year, but they have given up the third-most touchdown passes to quarterbacks in 2019 (7). Quarterbacks have also been able to average 18.6 fantasy points per game against the Bengals as well, making Murray a strong candidate to rely upon. The Cardinals are on a mission to try and prove their worth on offense and what better way to do it than against a team who just recently suffered a demoralizing loss on Monday night to their long-time bitter rivals of the north.
