Sneaky potential college football upset picks are everywhere in Week 6 amidst two ranked matchups but which teams are officially on upset alert?

College football Week 6 begins on the heels of a week that featured a number of upsets that were marginally impressive and another that was almost monumental. Teams like the California Golden Bears and Kansas State Wildcats dropped games that they likely should’ve won last week, dropping out of the AP Top 25 poll in the process. However, the biggest near-upset came in Chapel Hill.

The then-No. 1 ranked Clemson Tigers were nearly 30-point favorites as they went on the road to face the North Carolina Tar Heels, a team that had just lost to the Sun Belt’s Appalachian State the previous week. And yet, Mack Brown’s team pushed the defending National Champions to the absolute brink, bringing the potential upset down to one two-point conversion play.

Dabo Swinney’s Tigers, to their credit, stepped up and made the stop on that play to earn the hard-fought 21-20 victory. However, their scare last week certainly serves as a warning for the other top-ranked teams in college football entering Week 6 and beyond that, though you may have more talent, anything can happen in the college ranks as it pertains to upsets, especially in conference play.

Clemson will avoid being on upset alert in Week 6, though, as they’re idle on Saturday as is the Alabama Crimson Tide. Having said that, there are a number of other intriguing possible upsets that are standing out throughout the league.

The marquee game for college football Week 6 is the Auburn Tigers going to The Swamp to face the Florida Gators. And while the No. 10 ranked Gators could well beat the No. 7 ranked Tigers, that’s too closely-matched of a game in the rankings to actually call it a possible upset.

As for the five games that we’re about to talk about though, the recipe for an upset is in place. That’s why this quintet of teams is being put on upset alert in college football Week 6.
