Sabreena Merchant joins the latest episode of Fastbreak Breakfast to preview the upcoming season for the Los Angeles Clippers.

Whatever the cost, the Clippers had a huge off-season. Bringing in Kawhi Leonard, the reigning Finals MVP and Paul George, who finished third in the regular season MVP vote, immediately thrusts them into the title conversation. All summer they’ve been battling the Lakers for the best odds for a championship.

But what are the issues that they will encounter as they try to incorporate the two All-NBA players? Do they have enough playmaking and ball handling? Do they lack the proper defensive center? How much of a backseat do returning top scorers Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell need to take? Which five players on this deep team will be tasked with closing games?

To help answer these questions, Sabreena Merchant (@sabreenajm) joins the latest episode of Fastbreak Breakfast. Sabreena covers the Clippers for SBNation, in addition to writing about the WNBA for The Athletic.

Also covered:

  • How will Landry Shamet build off his rookie campaign while attempting to take over some back-up point guard duties?
  • Who starts and finishes games while George recovers from his double shoulder surgeries?
  • Is JaMychal Green the answer at center?
  • Between the Clippers and Lakers, which team is better equipped to overcome their lack of elite guards?
  • If you needed to win a game today, would you rather have Lou Williams or D’Angelo Russell?
