Florida Gators quarterback Kyle Trask had to leave the game vs. the Auburn Tigers, as he suffered a knee injury on a late hit late in the first half.

In the biggest game of the day, the No. 10 Florida Gators were going to have more than their hands full when their former SEC rival in the No. 7 Auburn Tigers game to town on Saturday. Florida was the slight underdog at home but saw a potentially scary moment involving their new starting quarterback Kyle Trask.

Late in the first half, Trask would go down with a knee injury suffered on a hit by Auburn. It wasn’t a dirty hit, however, he was in a ton of pain before walking off the field on his own power before heading to the locker room. Replacing him at quarterback was Emory Jones, who led Florida down the field on a scoring drive.

Florida has already lost its starting quarterback for the season, as Feleipe Franks broke his ankle on a sack on the road against the SEC East rival Kentucky Wildcats. The Gators were able to hold on in Lexington and stayed perfect. However, Auburn is the Gators’ toughest test of the season so far.

Trask only went into the locker room briefly but was back on the Florida sidelines with his helmet on shortly before halftime. The idea might be for Jones to run the Florida offense for another series before the Gators figure out who will be under center the rest of the way. Trask did come back in on Florida’s final offensive series of the first half, so that’s great news. Florida head coach Dan Mullen told CBS’s Jamie Erdahl at the half that Trask is gonna be alright and had a slight MCL sprain.

Florida has the luxury of playing at home and has gotten good play for the most part out of its defense so far. Keep in mind that Auburn is starting a true freshman at quarterback in Bo Nix. He may have won on a neutral site versus the Oregon Ducks and did beat the Texas A&M Aggies on the road in College Station, but this is The Swamp and these are the Gators.

Florida will have to regroup a bit at halftime and figure out what the team will do at quarterback the rest of the way. Fortunately, Mullen is great with quarterbacks. He is more than capable of making the right decision. Will it be enough to hold off a feisty Auburn team?
