NFL quarterback rankings, Week 6: Philip Rivers struggles badly
Trent Dilfer Division
22. Kyler Murray (LW: 24)
Murray won his first game on Sunday, beating the winless Bengals. He wasn’t great individually from the pocket, throwing for 253 yards on 7.9 yards per attempt. However, he also ran for another 93 yards, helping to set up multiple scores. For that reason, he moves up.
21. Derek Carr (LW: 20)
Carr is the safest quarterback in the league. He rarely completes passes over 10 yards in the air and does everything to avoid a turnover. He’s not going to elevate the team but he also won’t kill it with a crucial mistake. He’s decidedly average.
20. Teddy Bridgewater (LW: 25)
This was the feel-good story of the week. After largely being a caretaker for his first two starts, Bridgewater threw four touchdowns against the Buccaneers in a 31-24 win. If he can string together a few more performances like that before going back to the bench, he’ll make a nice payday come free agency.
19. Andy Dalton (LW: 16)
Dalton was largely terrible against the Cardinals until the fourth quarter, when like Frampton, he came alive. The Bengals should be considering moving any player worth a draft pick or two prior to the deadline. Not sure Dalton is in that mix for Cincinnati, but he should be.
18. Baker Mayfield (LW: 13)
What the hell happened to Mayfield? He went from everyone’s favorite brash bad-boy to Blaine Gabbert. We’re only through five games, but the Browns are 2-3 and Mayfield has stunk the joint up, throwing for 1,247 yards with four touchdowns and eight interceptions. Oh, and he has Nick Chubb, Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry on his team. Brutal. If this doesn’t change immediately, he’ll drop much further next week.
