NBA Preseason DFS: Wednesday, 10/9

If you people are going to keep reading these NBA Preseason DFS articles, then I am going to keep writing them, gosh darn it! I’m having a lot of fun breaking down these preseason NBA slates for you and happy to be able to provide some more free content here at FanSided Fantasy for tonight’s five-game slate.

I hope you had some success on last night’s slate. I ended up finishing second in the FanDuel one-dollar single entry which was good for 125 bucks! The key was pivoting off Luka Doncic right before lock after it was rumored on Twitter that he was going to sit out on the first half of a back to back. You absolutely have to keep monitoring these teams right up to lock in NBA DFS and hopefully, the new rule in which teams must release starting lineups a half-hour before tip-off will help us to avoid late scratches eating holes in our lineups with zeroes.

I love playing preseason NBA DFS for several reasons and I’m going to do my best to provide content when I can fit it in between my NFL writing schedule. Here’s why you should play NBA preseason DFS, too.

  1. It will familiarize you with all the teams’ rotations. At some point in the preseason (it might not be the first game) each team will attempt to play their starters for 2-3 quarters and give us some clues as to who their top subs are going to be off the bench.
  2. It allows you to monitor the roles and production of rookies and players on new teams.
  3. It forces you to follow NBA beat writers on Twitter for news about minutes and player injuries/rest. This is something you should definitely do for the regular season.
  4. It allows you the ability to practice roster construction on whatever site you choose to play.
  5. It’s really fun and there’s absolutely an edge if you’re willing to put in the work!

I’m going to do my best to do some of that work for you by giving you all the info that I’m able to get my hands on, but understand that this article is published early in the morning so you’re going to have to keep tabs on the teams playing tonight in case players get ruled out during the day or coaches announce their plans on how they are going to distribute minutes to their starters.

We have four games on the slate tonight and each of them has quite a few appealing DFS options. I’m not going to include pricing for each of the players today because I don’t want to make these articles site-specific. I will include a Draftkings and FanDuel sample lineup at the end to try to give you an idea of what my builds will look like. Let’s dive right into this slate with our first matchup between the Pistons and the Mavericks!
