Jordan Howard might have been a welcomed addition to the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason, but is it time to move on from him on your fantasy team?
The Philadelphia Eagles always tend to approach running back by-committee under head coach Doug Pederson. That can lead to difficulties in figuring out which back to use to help your fantasy football team. One guy of major intrigue for The Fantasy Footballers is Eagles newcomer back Jordan Howard.
Howard is a back that certainly has value, but has struggled with his pass-catching abilities out of the backfield. It was a major reason the team that drafted him out of Indiana University in 2015 in the Chicago Bears moved off their former Pro Bowl back. Having a guy who can factor in the receiving game like Tarik Cohen certainly made Howard expendable.

While Howard has been key in the Eagles getting their last two wins over the Green Bay Packers and the New York Jets, now might be the time to short the back and see if he can’t be a trade asset for you.
The reason for this is the Eagles’ next three games will be against some of the best run defenses in football. Philadelphia will play the Minnesota Vikings, the Dallas Cowboys and the Buffalo Bills all on the road in succession. Though two of those games will be in domes, all three teams have shown they are more than capable of neutralizing a one-dimensional back.
Sure, Howard might be an elite goal-line back, but these next few weeks might be an opportunity for a rookie like Miles Sanders out of Penn State to become a more vibrant part of the Eagles offense.
So either way, Howard is a player of great interest. He has played very well the last three weeks and is a dominant goal-line back running behind a powerful Eagles offensive line. However, his limitations as a pass-catcher could open up an opportunity for a guy like Sanders to take advantage.
Regardless, the 3-2 Eagles will have their work cut out for them in the next three weeks. Look for Pederson to come up with creative ways to use his backs. Play this one carefully, but if you can get a good offer for Howard, now might be the time to part ways with him on your fantasy. These next three weeks could be brutal for the Eagles, at least with the ground game.
