College football Week 7 brings fans a huge slate of fantastic action, which means upset picks are ripe for the picking and these five teams are in danger.
Putting teams on upset alert on a Saturday like what Week 7 of college football holds is honestly not that hard. This is a week that’s packed full of rivalry games, matchups between ranked opponents, high-profile conference showdowns and much more. What’s difficult, however, is narrowing it down to making the right upset picks in a week such as this.
Some teams can be taken off of upset alert quite easily given the circumstances, even if it’s a seemingly big matchup, like the Clemson Tigers. Dabo Swinney’s team got a scare from North Carolina two weeks ago before an off week. Now they face a talented Florida State team that could provide a challenge. However, the coaching matchup between Swinney and Willie Taggart gives the No. 2-ranked Tigers a hefty advantage that shouldn’t be squandered.
In the case of the Florida Gators and LSU Tigers facing off, that feels like too tight of a contest to call for a potential upset. These are two of the few remaining undefeated teams in college football squaring off in an SEC challenge. Even if the lower-ranked Gators won, it wouldn’t be that big of a surprise.
Meanwhile, the No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide aren’t in danger of losing to the No. 25 Texas A&M Aggies. Yes, it’s a matchup between ranked opponents but Tua Tagovailoa and the Tide have looked too dominant to be pushed by a possibly-mediocre Aggies team. The same can be said of the No. 10 Penn State Nittany Lions as they take on the No. 17 Iowa Hawkeyes.
Even after eliminating big-time games like that, though, there are still plenty of upset picks to choose from throughout the college football Week 7 slate. That’s how loaded of a week fans are about to be treated to.
After narrowing it all down and looking at everything an exciting week has to offer, though, these are the five teams that are on upset alert in Week 7 of the 2019 college football season.
