Gardner Minshew plays fantasy football, and he’s available in his own league.

In Week 5, with 374 yards and two touchdowns through the air along with 42 rushing yards, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew finished as QB8 in ESPN fantasy leagues. He now has multiple passing touchdowns without an interception in three straight games,  with multiple passing touchdowns in four of five games this season as he’s become a fantasy asset since stepping in for an injured Nick Foles during Week 1.

Minshew joined a fantasy football league this year, with his high school buddies. It’s a dynasty league, and Minshew apparently started from scratch this year and drafted an entirely new roster without keeping anyone. As part of a broader piece about Minshew for ESPN friend Tre Polk talked about Minshew’s involvement in the league, and a tabbed the rookie signal-caller as something of a fantasy football genius (or just simply lucky).

"It was ridiculous,” Polk says. “He must have known something about Melvin Gordon, and he worked out with Josh Jacobs and liked what he saw so he took him, and he took the Patriots defense, and he grabbed Austin Ekeler …” “Bottom line: He redrafted, like, his whole team, and he’s tied for first place. He just sees the game in a different way."

As evidenced below, Minshew is 4-1 with fellow rookie Kyler Murray as his quarterback.

It would easily be considered a conflict of interest (however casually) if Minshew owned himself in his fantasy league. But as it turns out no one has him in the league, at least not yet. Polk talked about that too.

“I keep waiting for him to pick himself up, but no one took him. Gardner Minshew is available in Gardner Minshew’s fantasy league,”

Even with a recent significant spike in ownership rate, Minshew is still only owned in 48.9 percent of ESPN leagues and 57 percent of Yahoo! leagues. In time, it can be assumed, someone in his league will have to pick him up to navigate bye weeks. Thank you for stopping by FanSided Fantasy Sports!
