NXT UK recap, October 10: The Frenemy Zone
By Jeremy Klein
Seeing Starz again
What a miracle! Jack Starz has been revived after being seemingly killed by Gallus last week. Oh, glorious day! Per commentary, no one thought Starz would ever make it in pro wrestling, in particular not even his childhood girlfriend. Brutal — both that she said that and that Nigel is bringing it up. Yet, here Jack Starz is, fully alive and competing on NXT UK.
Sadly, it’s not long before Starz is seeing stars (credit: Mark Coffey, Academy Award winning screenwriter for Green Book) again, as he’s fed into the wood chipper against Jordan Devlin.
Devlin is looking more pissed off and arrogant than usual as he withstands the early adrenaline burst of Starz’s offense en route to another decisive win. He gets all his usual spots in — uranagi to standing moonsault, using the shoulder as a backbreaker apparatus, etc. — before hitting the Devlin-side and proving Starz’z childhood girlfriend right.
After, Devlin is on the mic wondering aloud to Johnny Saint and everyone how many entry-level flunkies he has to turn to mulch before he’s seen as the biggest star on the roster. As you might expect, calling himself the biggest star brings out someone else. That someone else is Dave Mastiff, who is about to have a match of his own, but wouldn’t mind having one with Devlin first. The stamina of this guy!
Devlin however, backs away from the confrontation. He knows you need Johnny Saint’s approval via tweet before you can have a match in this town. Jordan Devlin may hate Johnny Saint, but he sure as hell respects the authority of the tweet.
