Each week I will be breaking down the DraftKings Showdown Slates on Monday, Thursday and Sunday night football. The DraftKings showdown slate is one of the more unique game styles that you can pick from on DraftKings.

When playing a showdown lineup you will notice that it is far different from a standard DraftKings contest. Instead of selecting a full roster of position players you have a Captain slot paired with five flex positions. The player you select as your Captain will score 1.5x the standard fantasy point value for each statistic but drafting a player as the Captain will cost you more salary than using them in your flex position. The DraftKings Showdown slate will consist of the same scoring as all other contests not counting the Captain bonus.

Some numbers to keep in mind when building lineups for your showdown slates. Last season the winning lineup had a running back or wide receiver in the Captain slot 71% of the time on the largest prize pool showdown contests.

All Captain selections are major flex considerations

DraftKings Showdown Slate GPP Builds:

Captain-

Kerryon Johnson – $12,900

This Packers defense can’t stop the run allowing the third-most points to running backs (25.4 GM). If the Lions can keep this game close, Johnson should be in for a big night, as they will try to keep Rodgers and company off the field. Over his past two games, Johnson has 46 carries making him the focal point of this offense. I would expect that to continue against this dreadful rush defense.

Aaron Jones – $17,100

The Lions currently allow the 4th most points to running backs, making Aaron Jones one of my higher owned Captains. With the Packers likely to be leading and running out the clock, Jones’s game script should make him one of the highest-scoring players on this slate. This would be a smash spot for Jones if he was going to get the full workload, but Jaamal Williams back that will likely not be the case.

Other Captain options to differentiate your lineups and give you a chance at the 250k top prize.

Kenny Golladay – $14,100

The most targeted receiver in Detroit is Kenny Golladay with 36 on the season. He is a big play waiting to happen with his volume and his size and speed. With Kevin King likely to shadow Kenny Golladay, I will be looking for only a sprinkle of him in my Captain slot. For this slate, I would be looking for Golladay in the flex. He pairs well with Aaron Jones Captained lineups in what would be a Lions trailing build heavy with Stafford and his receivers.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling – $11,700

With Davante Adams out, MVS is upgraded on this slate. He is currently second on the team in targets with 33 which is only three behind Adams. As I have mentioned multiple times in showdown, you always want guys that have the speed to break a slate open. MVS has that game-breaking ability and is a great contrarian play for those utilizing the running backs heavily.
